We developed a pupil-segmented polarization microscopy system enabling multi-scale observation by combining wide-field imaging with microscopic high-resolution inspection. A transmissive liquid-crystal spatial polarization modulator placed at the pupil plane divides incident polarization spatially to illuminate the sample surface. Tiny surface irregularities cause orthogonal polarization shifts in the reflected light, which are selectively detected. Experiments using metallic surfaces demonstrated that this technique clearly visualizes global structures and minute surface features simultaneously, confirming its effectiveness for detailed, high-contrast multi-scale characterization.
