Cerebral artery occlusion and stenosis can potentially be evaluated using carotid ultrasound Doppler and pulse wave measurement. Therefore, we created a transparent vascular model and examined the effects of stenosis on carotid artery waves. In this study, we examined the flow velocity and wall shear stress (WSS) near the stenosis model using particle image velocimetry. The results showed that the maximum flow velocity was observed slightly behind the narrowest part. In addition, WSS was highest near the location where the maximum flow velocity was observed and decreased as the distance from the narrowest part increased.
