Cerium-substituted yttrium iron garnet films were fabricated by radio-frequency ion beam sputtering with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy as epitaxial films for magneto-optical device applications. Submicron maze-like magnetic domains were observed using a Faraday effect microscope, and excellent crystallinity and magneto-optical properties were confirmed through various evaluations. Similar magnetic domain structures were successfully reproduced using micromagnetic simulations.
