[14a-P01-42] Development of lead-free glass for radiation protection and its optical properties

The fundamental optical properties and radiation protection ability were evaluated in BaO-B₂O₃-TiO₂ ternary glass system. These glasses exhibited high transmittance and high refractive indices indicating the high capability as optical glasses. Pb equivalent of these glasses were also evaluated, and these glasses showed good radiation protection ability as expected from relative densities. Both these results indicate that these glasses can be applied as optical materials used in the high radiation environment.
