CsCuCl3 has right-handed and left-handed chiral crystal structures (P6122, P6522) because of the cooperative Jahn-Teller effect. However, CsCuCl3 crystallizes as a racemic twin in the evaporation of the aqueous solution at room temperature. In this work, homochiral CsCuCl3 is resolved by changing the crystallization temperature. Temperature-dependent spontaneous resolution of inorganic crystals is confirmed for the first time. The solvents of crystallization also affect the optical resolution of CsCuCl3.
