Josephson plasma emitters (JPEs) are multilayer devices made of Bi2212 single crystal that can modulate the frequency of electromagnetic waves by modulating the applied voltage. In this study, frequency modulation from 3 GHz to 10 GHz was performed, and modulation up to 7.5 GHz was successfully achieved. Particularly, the enhancement of modulation amplitude and the reduction of circuit impedance are issues for modulation at high frequencies because of the effect of circuit attenuation.
