The Josephson Plasma Emitter (JPE) is a frequency-tunable terahertz source made of the high-temperature cuprate superconductor Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ. JPE faces a challenge because its behavior is difficult to describe analytically due to its strong nonlinearity. In this presentation, we propose a method to analytically describe the behavior of the JPE from the perspective of its role as an anisotropic dielectric and as a nonlinear electrical circuit.
