This study realized nanostructures that autonomously control the momentum in the scattering direction and change the direction of light pressure in response to changes in the surroundings refractive index.These nanostructures enable the realisation of plasmonic nano-actuators whose motion is controlled in response to the surrounding environment, and thus holds promise for the development of completely new applications of light-driven micromachines.
