Stress generation occurs by temperature change or light irradiation in nematic liquid crystal elastomers when their length is fixed. We report the results of our investigation of the correlation of this stress generation with applied strain and polymer crosslink density, i.e., stress generation characteristics, and discuss the potential applications of this material.
