A new method for controlling bubble position with high spatial resolution using multiphoton absorption regions was proposed and demonstrated. A pulsed laser focused on the solution generated a sharp thermal gradient at the focal point, trapping bubbles with a force in excess of 380 pN. Using this effect, bubbles could be guided with high precision along a 1 mm long linear multiphoton absorption distribution channel. The proposed method, combined with the high-speed and precise energy distribution techniques of optics, offers an innovative proposal for many fields related to fluidics.
