spin Seebeck effect,anomalous Nernst effect
The spin Seebeck effect (SSE) is a thermoelectric conversion phenomenon in which a temperature gradient produces an electromotive force in the ferromagnetic and heavy metal layers. A similar phenomenon is the anomalous Nernst effect (ANE). Although the two phenomena have different origins, they are difficult to distinguish because the electromotive force signals are often superimposed and detected. In this study, we propose a method to separate SSE from ANE by measuring heat flow in both vertical and horizontal directions and report the results of verification using GdCo/Pt thin films.
