A Josephson current comparator is the fundamental circuit element of a superconducting digital circuit comprising two Josephson junctions connected in series. In this study, we introduce a new operation principle for high-speed operation of the Josephson current comparator. In the proposed operation, both of the two Josephson junctions in the Josephson current comparator switch for output of the “1”. Simulation results indicate that the time from the clock input to output of the Josephson current comparator can be shortened by about 20 ps by introducing the proposed principle of operation.
