We propose a method to generate terahertz (THz) vector beam using the lateral photo-Dember (PD) effect. A lateral PD polarization is formed by partially covering the beam spot with metal in the photoexcitation of a semiconductor surface. We experimentally confirmed that the polarization direction of the THz wave originated from lateral PD effect can be controlled by the configuration of the metal structure and the beam distribution. Using this property and the moiré pattern formed by interference between the periodic structure of the metal and the intensity distribution of the excitation beam, THz vector beam generation is possible.
