While noble metal nanoparticles exhibiting plasmon resonance and semiconductor nanoparticles exhibiting Mie resonance confine optical electromagnetic fields in the vicinity of the particles, their confinement of magnetic and electric fields are weak, respectively. The difference between them is considered to originate from that in carrier concentration. Carrier doped semiconductor nanoparticles exhibit the potential to achieve highly efficient optical confinement, compensating for the drawbacks of both nanoparticles. In this study, we examined the linear and nonlinear optical properties of carrier doped semiconductor nanoparticles.
