Josephson parametric amplifiers (JPAs) have extremely low noise and are effective for reading out information from superconducting quantum bits. However, reducing the amount of heat generated by the amplifiers is an important issue when integrating quantum bits. Most of the heat is caused by the pump power, and it is believed that generating pump waves using a highly efficient, low-noise oscillator is effective. Therefore, we investigated the possibility of using a Josephson array oscillator (JAO) as a pump source for JAPs, and here we report on the design and fabrication of a 20 GHz-band JAO.
