In this study, we focused on solution plasma as a clean biomass conversion technology and investigated the decomposition behavior of glucose during the process. After plasma treatment of an aqueous glucose solution, C2–C4 organic acids were formed, along with gases rich in H2, CO, and CO2. Based on these results, a reaction pathway was proposed: glucose undergoes oxidative degradation by abundant OH radicals from water, forming organic acids, which subsequently undergo decarbonylation and decarboxylation reactions to produce gases.
