Polyurea is promising as a second-order nonlinear optical material because of its strong electric dipole moment due to the urea bonding and its transparency. This paper report on the SHG phenomenon in polyurea thin films prepared by the vapor deposition polymerization method. We will discuss the mechanism of polar polarization formation related to the second-order nonlinear optics based on the dependence on the angle of incidence of the pump light and its polarization.
