Single-crystal rubrene has been reported to have a high carrier mobility of 40 cm2/Vs. However, there are few reports on the crystallization of rubrene thin film and its electrical properties in the out-of-plane direction. This is attributed to the many challenges in thin film planarization with crystallization. In contrast, some studies have indicated that an amorphous underlayer with a low glass transition temperature (Tg) facilitates the crystallization of rubrene thin films.
In this study, we evaluated the out-of-plane electrical and luminescence properties to the substrate of the rubrene thin film, which is crystalized using an amorphous underlayer and annealing treatment.
