Materials informatics is an interdisciplinary field that often faces challenges in communication among researchers. Additionally, past data is frequently unsuitable for numerical analysis without cleansing or transformation. Using the NIMS Atomwork database as an example, an ontology-based framework is designed and implemented a conversion to a neo4j graph database. This approach significantly improves the traceability, clarity, and understandability of the data. Furthermore, it extends the application of FAIR data principles beyond data to include knowledge, facilitating more efficient research support.
