In order to apply IL-MOF, in which a metal-organic structure (MOF) with nanopores is filled with an ionic liquid (IL), it is important to elucidate the mechanism of IL penetration into the MOF. However, it has been difficult to experimentally observe the penetration behavior of nanopores due to the influence of moisture in the atmosphere. Taking advantage of the non-volatile properties of IL, we observed in a vacuum and confirmed that [C8mim][Tf2N] (C8) does not penetrate for several days at room temperature. In this study, C8 was dropped onto the (111) surface of Cu3(BTC)2 single crystals, and IL osmotic behavior was observed and evaluated under temperature-elevated conditions.
