Focusing on the dipole polarization within organic molecular films, we investigated the potential of dipole energy associated with dipole alignment within the molecular films as a source of electrical energy. Based on the principles examined, we report the experimental results of triboelectric power generation using polymer films. Furthermore, we studied the effects of Maxwell electrostatic stress, generated by the accumulation of dipole energy within the molecular films, on the shape of the molecular films. These findings are also discussed from the perspective of their application to electronics.
