When solar modules are vertically installed on building walls, the detrimental impacts of time-variations and areal differences in the solar spectra are more significant than those on solar modules installed at the optimal tilt angles on rooftops. Therefore, the conversion efficiencies of the solar modules including series connection of the top and bottom modules (or cells) lower owing to the current mismatching. By contrast, the voltage-matched modules composed of the parallel-connected top and bottom modules whose maximal-power voltages are approximately the same as each other are robust against solar-spectrum variation, and hence ensure high conversion efficiencies.
