Our electric-controllable light-diffusing polarizers are manufacturable in a single-step process by photopolymerization of raw mixtures without any orientation pre-treatment on substrates. This is a technique of nonuniform light irradiation that phase-separates liquid crystals (LCs) and polymers, causing LCs to be self-assembled in orientation. This produces optical anisotropy and consequent light polarization in direct transmittance. In the present presentation, we will demonstrate the electro-responsiveness (response rate and repetition durability) of the polarization and the expandability in fabrication techniques (light sources at different wavelength and Fourier-transform optical system).
