Liquid crystal prisms (LC prisms) have been one of the promising technologies that enables non-mechanical beam steering. The LC prism can be demonstrated by patterning the pre-tilt angle of LC alignment and forming a single refractive index gradient. However, patterning of LC alignment in the polar angle direction remains challenging. In this study, we propose a novel method to realize patterning of the pre-tilt angle by embedding an aligned polymer structure in a LC cell.
