Studies on germination and growth control of seeds by plasma irradiation have been actively reported recently. Although germination enhancement and other effects have been experimentally investigated as a function of external plasma parameters, it is desirable to discuss the kind and amount of chemical species as parameters. In this report, we evaluated the amount of radicals (especially N and O) produced by dielectric barrier discharges as a function of discharge energy.
