Optical phased arrays (OPAs), which steer beams by controlling the relative phase of light emitted from multiple waveguides, are promising for applications in augmented reality, laser processing, and bioscience.
In this work, toward the realization of an LD-integrated OPA, we fabricated an OPA based on SiON/SiO2 waveguides — previously demonstrated in monolithic integration with GaN LD sources — and report beam steering in the blue wavelength band.
