Cu(I) complexes have attracted considerable attention as luminescent materials owing to their low cost and excellent emission properties. Among them, cubane-type copper(I) iodide complexes are expected to suppress concentration quenching due to their three-dimensional cluster structures. In this study, OLEDs employing the cubane-type copper(I) iodide complexes [Cu4I4(PPh2Th)3(CH3CN)] and [Cu4I4(PPh2ThIO)4], which contain phosphine-based ligands, as emitting layers were fabricated and their device characteristics were evaluated.
