While promising solar cell materials such as perovskites are being put into practical use, further efforts are still needed to improve electrical stability. In particular, there are many challenges in improving the reliability and lifespan of the materials used for these transparent electrodes. On the other hand, silicon materials have a long history of production, and there are no problems with their reliability or lifespan. Silicon crystalline single-junction solar cells are widely used in the construction of large-scale solar power plants that require significant capital investment. This study proposes a new structure for silicon crystalline multi-junction solar cells and a specific manufacturing method, inspired by the manufacturing techniques of bipolar transistor (parallel) type PNP junctions or PNPN junctions, using high-energy ion implantation technology, not in a tandem (series) type.
