Substantial progress has been made in developing qubits using electrons in semiconductors, enabled by advances in materials science and nanofabrication. As an alternative platform, electrons floating on liquid helium or solid neon reside a few nanometers above the substrate surface in vacuum, making them less susceptible to charge and magnetic noise and thereby enabling long quantum coherence. In this work, we establish an electrical readout technique for the quantum states of electrons floating in vacuum and, by coupling them to a superconducting resonator, demonstrate long-coherence charge qubits.
