In floating-catalyst CNT synthesis, growth proceeds under dynamically evolving conditions, where temperature, feedstock composition, and catalyst size continuously change. In this study, we tracked the growth histories of individual CNTs using isotope labeling and demonstrate that CNT chirality is robustly preserved even under intentional environmental perturbations and catalyst coarsening. In contrast, the growth rate responds sensitively to environmental changes. These results suggest that CNT chirality is determined at an early stage of growth and provide guidelines for structural control in scalable gas-phase synthesis and seeded CNT growth.
