Metalenses offer significant advantages over conventional refractive lenses due to their ultrathin and lightweight profiles, leading to high expectations for their application in diverse optical systems. However, correcting spherical aberration remains a critical challenge in metalens design, as its impact increases in proportion to the cube of the lens radius (r3). Particularly when aiming for near-diffraction-limited performance in the visible spectrum, conventional design methods have been limited to lens diameters of approximately 1 cm. In this study, we aimed to design and demonstrate large-aperture metalenses that correct spherical aberration and achieve high focusing performance in the visible region.
