BaSc0.80W0.20O2.80, an electrolyte for solid oxide fuel cells, has been reported to be difficult to achieve a relative density above 95% even after heat treatment at 1600 °C. In this study, Ni addition was used to enhance densification. While the Ni-free sample showed a relative density of approximately 60%, the BaSc0.76W0.20Ni0.04O2.80−δ sample with 4 mol% Ni achieved a relative density exceeding 95%.
