We have numerically demonstrated that, in a 90° twisted hybrid alignment, reducing the polar anchoring strength of a vertical alignment surface yields a quasi-TN configuration equivalent to a conventional 90° TN, enabling black–white switching below 1 V. We also clarified that the formation of the quasi-TN state depends on elastic constants. This study investigated the effect of introducing a 90° spontaneous twist on the critical anchoring strength.
