In this study, we numerically analyzed the initial value dependence and multistability in the Duffing equation. While fixing the parameters to the conditions that generate the Japanese attractor, we varied the initial values and calculated Poincaré maps and Lyapunov exponents. The results confirmed the coexistence of a chaotic region and a periodic solution region within the phase space. Furthermore, the fine intertwining of attractors near the boundaries of the basins of attraction suggested fractality, and we aimed to achieve a deeper understanding of chaotic phenomena.
