Advances in laser-based optical and quantum electronics have enabled optical lattice clocks to achieve performance surpassing that of conventional atomic clocks. In this lecture, I present our efforts to implement a Japan-developed optical lattice clock into the national time standard system, thereby realizing the continuous and highly accurate generation of Japan Standard Time. This achievement was recognized by the Takuma Award. I will also discuss the significance of sustaining an essential social infrastructure such as timekeeping with domestic technology.
