Material discrimination in X-ray non-destructive testing remains challenging when materials have similar densities. In this study, we investigate the feasibility of material separation in composite structures using multi-energy X-ray CT with a photon-counting detector. By applying a virtual non-contrast CT approach extended from medical imaging, we demonstrate that multiple materials can be discriminated based on energy-dependent attenuation characteristics.
