We are investigating the effects of gamma-ray irradiation to gain insights into the radiation-induced damage structures formed within PADC detectors and their formation mechanisms. UV-visible spectroscopic analysis has revealed that absorption at 240 nm monotonically increases over the 1–10 kGy dose range, with absorption at 280 nm also increasing near 100 kGy. However, gamma irradiation effects require consideration not only of absorbed dose but also of dose rate dependence. In this study, we investigated the dose rate dependence (0.64–2.84 Gy/s) of the UV-visible spectra of gamma-irradiated PADC samples over the range of 30–100 kGy.
