Aggregation-prone proteins that form amyloid fibrils in the central nervous system are important biomarkers of neurodegenerative diseases. Here, we present a rapid method for measuring protein aggregates using an optical condensation technique based on a nanobowl substrate. This approach has the potential to discriminate polymorphic forms of protein aggregates present in patient samples, making it valuable not only as a diagnostic technology for neurodegenerative diseases but also as a platform for drug target exploration.
