In this study, we integrated compound semiconductor nanowires onto silicon nitride waveguides and observed second harmonic generation (SHG) arising from strong light–matter interaction utilizing the whispering gallery modes (WGMs) of the nanowires. By employing WGMs, efficient SHG can be achieved owing to the resonant optical field enhancement provided by the cavity and the concentrated excitation of regions near the nanowire surface where the crystal symmetry is broken.
