[17a-PA1-5]Induction of Polarity in Chiral Lead Iodide Crystals

This study aims to develop novel polar materials based on a design strategy distinct from that of conventional inorganic materials. Crystals were grown by incorporating the chiral organic molecule alanine [C3H7NO2] into an inorganic lead halide [PbI6] framework. Crystal structure analysis revealed that the resulting crystals belong to a polar point group, and local piezoresponse measurements demonstrated the presence of ferroelectricity.
