V2O3 exhibits a metal-insulator transition accompanied by a structural phase transition at ~150 K, and anisotropies in electrical and optical conductivity along the directions perpendicular and parallel to the c-axis have been reported in bulk V2O3. However, in bulk samples with large current paths, it is difficult to evaluate the intrinsic anisotropy in electrical conductivity. In this study, (11-20)-oriented V2O3 epitaxial thin films were fabricated, and by microfabricating cross-shaped structures with a high aspect ratio along directions perpendicular and parallel to the c-axis, anisotropic electrical conductivity in the metallic phase near the metal-insulator transition was observed.
