With the progress of decarbonization, the installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems on existing buildings is expected; however, reducing module weight is a critical challenge due to limited load-bearing capacities. To address this, this study replaced the front glass with a lightweight polymer and introduced a sandwich structure using a paper honeycomb core to compensate for the resulting loss of stiffness. Four-point bending tests revealed that the honeycomb core increased the moment of inertia, leading to an improvement in stiffness. Additionally, structural analysis results of the module using ANSYS software are presented.
