Ultrathin optically transparent films can be visualized by optical microscopy using interference effects on low-reflectance substrates. However, clear visualization generally requires wavelength-restricted illumination using a narrow band-pass filter. In this study, we examine antireflective multilayer substrates that enable high-contrast imaging under white-light illumination.
