In organic thin-film devices, light extraction efficiency is reduced due to exciton quenching caused by surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) propagating on the surface of metal electrodes. This originates from escaping SPPs from exciton sites. Therefore, we attempted to suppress quenching by using resonators to localize SPPs near the excitons. As a result, the photoluminescence quantum yield in structures containing metal became higher than in structures without metal. We studied the origin of this phenomenon.
