Gas sensors for detecting small-molecule gases such as hydrogen are becoming increasingly important in various fields, including early disease detection via breath and skin gases, gas-leak detection, and atmospheric environmental monitoring. We performed in situ/operando XAFS measurements to elucidate the chemical-state and structural changes at the sensor surface and bulk under operating conditions.
