Surface plasmon (SP) resonance generates localized electromagnetic fields near metal thin films, significantly enhancing the luminescence of emitters. Achieving strong enhancement requires tuning the SP dispersion diagram to obtain a large wavevector at the emission wavelength; however, this has been challenging due to constraints imposed by material permittivity. Here, we present a strategy to control the dispersion diagram by exploiting near-field interactions between adjacent layers through thin-film formation and optimization of metal and dielectric layers. This approach achieves approximately 50-fold enhancement at the ZnO emission wavelength of 390 nm.
