An online questionnaire survey on reskilling was conducted with 1,000 Japanese participants aged 20 and over, and the results were analyzed utilizing mixed methods. The research revealed that (1) only a limited number of individuals continue reskilling after completing their formal education; (2) many are unable to pursue reskilling due to concerns about factors such as cost and cost-effectiveness; (3) women and older individuals tend to place greater significance on social learning; and (4) women are typically in unstable employment and face additional barriers to reskilling due to responsibilities related to housework, child-rearing, and caring for their elderly parents.
