Event Outline
Engineering Education for Regional Innovation and Sustainable Futures
Our nation now faces diverse and complex challenges at an unprecedented pace, including population decline, shifts in industrial structure, and delays in adapting to globalization observed in some areas. The impact is particularly pronounced in regional areas, making the cultivation of talent capable of spearheading solutions an urgent necessity for sustainable regional development. At this pivotal moment, higher education institutions bear the responsibility of cultivating individuals who are rooted in their communities yet possess a global perspective, capable of independent thought, taking on challenges, and fostering creativity. Simultaneously, businesses and local governments have also accumulated distinctive educational and research activities in collaboration with regional industries. This very accumulation of practical experience constitutes the major force underpinning Japan's engineering education and the driving force for opening up the future.
This conference brings together the practical research and latest initiatives that form this driving force. Through practice-based education linked to regional industry, culture, and natural resources; new forms of learning utilizing digital technology; and collaborative models for lifelong talent development between universities and local communities, we will explore the future shape of engineering education demanded by our times. Guided by the spirit of learning from the past to understand the present, we will also return to the fundamentals of engineering education, reaffirming our mission to “bring happiness to people and regions through technology.” We hope this conference will mark a powerful step toward charting new milestones in education, research, and community engagement, and realizing the development of human resources who will shape the future of their regions with their own hands.
This conference will primarily feature oral presentations and poster presentations at the venue. Additionally, we will accept pre-recorded presentations via the conference website. Please note that if there are few poster submissions, they will be scheduled as oral presentations. There will be no live streaming or similar services.
