Seeds of drug discovery lie hidden in various research fields. In order to notice the seeds of drug discovery, it is essential to have the opportunity to be exposed to various research fields. Therefore, in this symposium, four researchers with a wide range of expertise will talk about research fields related to drug discovery. Through lively discussions between presenters and participants, we aim to obtain knowledge that will lead to drug discovery research. Topics will be diverse, including X-chromosome inactivation research, which may seem at first glance to be unrelated to drug discovery, microbiome research, which has been accumulating knowledge as a drug discovery target in recent years, basic research on known and new infectious diseases, and research from the perspective of practical application in preventive medicine. We hope that connection of the multiple research fields introduced this time, rather than just looking at the seeds of drug discovery in independent research fields, will enable us to create new ideas for drug discovery.
