Abstract
In 2018, our university welcomed Shigenobu Nagamori as Chairman of the Board. The following year, in 2019, we closed a chapter on our 50-year history and began a new era under an entirely new philosophy as Kyoto University of Advanced Science (KUAS). Established in 2020, the Faculty of Engineering embodies this new vision by offering engineering education in English under the slogan “Be a Street-Smart Global Engineer.” More than 50% of the undergraduate students are international students, representing more than 50 countries and contributing to a culturally and linguistically diverse learning environment. Among the faculty's distinctive initiatives, the Capstone Project stands out as a unique program where student teams tackle real-world challenges faced by companies. This serves not only as a platform for students to cultivate practical skills, but also as a first point of contact between international students and Japanese companies. In this keynote, I will share insights from five years of experience in providing higher education within the multicultural environment of our Faculty of Engineering. I will also explore how emerging technologies, including generative AI, are shaping the future of talent development.
